What’s new from Coach Pri?

🥳 Our first in-person ‘Product-with-Pri’ Community Meetup was a success!
We had 18+ experienced PMs join us for our first event! It was planned till 7 pm and most folks ended up staying till 7:30 pm since we were having so much fun 😅 We learned about each other, talked about our career journeys, goals and challenges, I covered my journey + insights from various conferences, & open networking! And we had fresh chai, along with homemade french mini-tarts to keep us going for the evening, coupled with fun swag! 😍

Product Management News & Industry Trends

• Salesforce AI summit recap: This was an insightful discussion in the Yerba Buena theatre in SF between Salesforce leaders and other industry leaders on the importance of ethical & inclusive AI products.
  
  While the discussions seemed a bit overly positive, and I think we need more industry folks outside of SF/big tech to participate - I’m certainly grateful to Salesforce for organizing this summit and getting this important discussion started! And I’m even more grateful to have a chance to meet Dr. Joy Buolamwini. I’ve just pre-ordered her book - Unmasking AI - which is a must-read if you care about this topic, and I can’t wait to dig in.
  

  Key themes from the summit:

  • AI for Diversity: Expand AI education to democratize knowledge

  • Inclusive Product Design - How do we make more accessible, inclusive products from the start, instead of an afterthought.

  • HR Transformation: Use AI for holistic hiring, skill mapping, and equitable growth.

  • Ethical Oversight: Audits and bias reduction need to be more integrated.

Who’s hiring in my network (HM Linkedin Posts!)

• Doordash is hiring PMs in their Data team, and hiring Product Designers actively! Here is the HM’s post.

• I know Macy’s might sound like old school, but if you want to go help retail and apply your PM skills there, the Stores team is hiring a Group Product Manager.

• If crypto is your thing, then Coinbase is hiring for a Group Product Manager.

• Healthcare startup Fabric is hiring for multiple PM roles in NYC + remote.

• Walmart continues to hire PMs at all levels - since they are building out their full 3rd party marketplace of sellers similar to Amazon - this allows them to make money without being responsible for inventory and fulfillment, in addition to their traditional business. 💥 Career or Job Search Strategy - Why do you need one?
“I have applied to 100s of PM jobs at various levels, in various domains and industries. And yet, my recruiter response is spotty, and the few interviews that I do get, I can’t seem to be cracking.”

This is a story I’m hearing all too often these days. While it might seem like “a lot of applications” should yield results, truth is - it might be like throwing darts all over the place hoping something will stick!

Instead - what you need is a clear career & job search strategy. When you define your niche, your strengths, your growth areas, your target companies, your must haves, your industry expertise, your domain knowledge etc, and get crystal clear on what you want as your next PM role, it becomes much easier to actually get results!
