What’s new from Coach Pri?

• My leadership talk at Yelp, San Francisco! : I’m excited to get my first paid talk for 2024 at Yelp’s SF office! This will be for the Women in Product Employee Resource Group (ERG), with in-office attendance, and live-streaming to US/Europe/Global attendees.

• B2B PM Training: I am starting to explore some new opportunities in this area. I have created a 1 week PM Fundamentals Training and an 8-week Immersive PM Training program. Product Management News & Industry Trends

• Chinese youth turn to Tinder for job search: Why does this concern us as PMs/Founders/Product Leaders? This is a reminder that we do not control how people will use our product, and telling people “You’re using the product the wrong way” isn’t helpful, and more importantly, it won’t work. So instead, think of different contexts, including cultural and environmental differences in how your product can and will be used - and PLAN & DESIGN it in the best way possible! Read more.

• Human-by-design: Accenture talks about how all AI-powered technologies and products will adopt a “human-by-design” principle so that they are more intuitive and human-like and easy to interact with from the get-go. Read more.

• ‘Product Thinking’ skills still hold value: While teaching the PM Accelerated program at Stanford, I find that people struggle with some core skills of PMs and Product Thinking - and start using AI buzzwords in their projects/assignments instead, and I encourage them to invest time to learn these core PM skills, because without that, AI knowledge or certifications won’t help. I’m glad that ‘Mind-the-Product’ agrees with me 😄 - Read more.

Hiring and Layoffs

The latest on layoffs:

Large companies that declared layoffs recently include Uniliver, Fidelity and IBM, in addition to several startups. Gaming companies have done layoffs this year due to the increasing cost of game development, among other reasons, with Enthusiastic Gaming the latest on the list.  Check out more info about Layoffs on this site.

Who’s hiring for PM roles (in the U.S.)?

I know that looking for a job is hard! Here are some companies that are hiring PMs at various levels: 

• Datadog is continuing to hire PMs at different levels in New York.

• Alibaba group is hiring an AI Product Manager in the SF Bay area.

• Adobe is hiring a Sr. Product Manager.
