What’s new from Coach Pri?

Hi friends,
It’s been a little while since my last newsletter — but Fall is here, the air is shifting, and it feels like the perfect time to reconnect. Between client work, teaching, travel to my beloved NYC, some cousin time in Florida, and mom life (never a dull moment 😅), the last couple of months have been full. But stepping into this new season, I’m feeling refreshed, energized, and so excited to share what’s coming next.

PM & AI News & Industry Trends

So much has happened in terms of AI and PM updates and industry trends in the last couple of months!

And now on to other PM and AI news and trends this past month:

1. Small AI Models Are Rising
   Companies are quietly shifting from giant LLMs to smaller, faster, cheaper models that run on-device.
   PM takeaway: Don’t assume “bigger is better.” Edge-friendly models = better UX, lower cost, and more product opportunities.

2. AI Rules Are Becoming Product-Specific
   Regulators are moving from broad “AI safety” talk to category-level rules (education, health, finance, workplace).
   PM takeaway: AI PMs will need to build compliance checkpoints into their roadmap, not bolt them on later.

3. Agent Observability Is Becoming Non-Optional
   Teams building AI features now track things like: what the agent tried to do, where it got stuck, hallucination patterns, and error rates.
   PM takeaway: Treat AI workflows like micro-services — with logs, metrics, and dashboards.

4. Prompt Engineering → Prompt Systems
   Leading AI teams no longer rely on clever prompts. They now use structured systems: instructions + examples + guardrails + evaluation tests.
   PM takeaway: Think of prompts as versioned assets with QA — not strings you tweak.

5. AI in Finance Is Entering a New Era
   From a recent Columbia Engineering event I attended, with talks from several professors doing cutting edge research in the field, here’s what I learned:

• AI agents are starting to make real financial decisions (like scanning markets or spotting opportunities).

• Prediction markets are becoming data sources for learning human behavior.

• Institutions (NY Fed, IBM) are experimenting with AI-native financial systems.
  PM takeaway: The future of financial products will mix human judgment with AI-driven decision-making — and PMs will need to design the guardrails.
