What’s new from Coach Pri?

• Who said you can’t go to the beach on Halloween? 🏖️ We ended up with a hawaiian beach-themed birthday party for my son this past weekend (with spooktacular skeletons popping out in a few places in the backyard!)

  Depending on what you celebrate - I wish you a very Happy Halloween 👻 or a Happy Diwali 🪔, or both, if you’re like me (bring on that Rangoli with the skeletons! ) May the light of knowledge and wisdom bring you peace and happiness!  

• Lenny & Friends Summit Recap: Last week I had a fantastic time leading a roundtable discussion(on the topic of “Building customer-centric B2B Products with AI”) with Product Leaders from around the world at the Lenny & Friends Summit. Product Management Insights, News & Trends

• Freemium is over-rated: This is not so much “news”, but something I read that I want to share. Melissa Kwan, 3x bootstrapper shares in her latest podcast how everyone thinks "freemium" model is the end all be all for monetization or at least starting to monetize, but how that does not always work. I love a different viewpoint on a familiar topic! Check it out here.

• The blockers for AI product adoption : As part of my roundtable at Lenny’s Summit with several heads of product, and senior product leaders, what emerged are some of the blockers around AI product adoption. The “fear of losing my job”, “fear of change”, and other emotions are top of mind for people whose jobs are being forever changed or removed as a result of AI. Organizations will require investments in organizational change management, up-skilling their existing employees on AI skills, and employees will also need to find ways to upskill themselves externally if their employer does not help!
  
  Customer empathy will become a key tool for PMs to ensure product adoption. I’m a big fan of every CEO or CPO or PM should do the customer’s job for a day, or at least “shadow” the customer and spend a day in their environment. • As you might have noticed - security is a growing space for PMs - and Yval Schory at Sift (AI-powered fraud detection) is hiring PMs at multiple levels, check out his Linkedin post.

PM Career/Interview Tips of the Week

💥 We are in week 9 of the PM Level-Up Group Program - and our topic of the week is back to Product Strategy! (Since we finished our typical 8-weeks of topics and content, we’re now doing ‘rolling topics’ and going back to our week 2 topic of ‘Product Strategy’, so the folks who joined mid-cohort don’t miss out on all the fun!)

Concepts you need to know for Product Strategy (PS) questions:
1. The 3 Cs - Customer, Company, Competitors.
2. The 5 Ps of Marketing - Product, Pricing, Placement, Promotion and People!
3. Monetization, if applicable, depending on Product Stage

6. My own additions to this list - Ethical/Humane use of Products + Environmental Impact (not just carbon emissions, but overall impact!)
