A beach-themed Halloween this year!

šŸ‘‹ If youā€™re new to this newsletter - Welcome!

Whatā€™s new from Coach Pri?

  • Who said you canā€™t go to the beach on Halloween? šŸ–ļø We ended up with a hawaiian beach-themed birthday party for my son this past weekend (with spooktacular skeletons popping out in a few places in the backyard!)

Depending on what you celebrate - I wish you a very Happy Halloween šŸ‘» or a Happy Diwali šŸŖ”, or both, if youā€™re like me (bring on that Rangoli with the skeletons! ) May the light of knowledge and wisdom bring you peace and happiness!

  • Lenny & Friends Summit Recap: Last week I had a fantastic time leading a roundtable discussion(on the topic of ā€œBuilding customer-centric B2B Products with AIā€) with Product Leaders from around the world at the Lenny & Friends Summit. Checkout my LI post on what my experience was like at this event.

    • Missed it? They will be posting all the talks on Lennyā€™s Youtube channel soon, so stay tuned. Or, you can read Peter Yangā€™s in depth write up of the summit and all of the talks here.

  • Still feeling the FOMO?

    • Join us on Friday, Nov 15th for our first ā€œProduct-with-Priā€ PM Community Meetup, right here in the South Bay Area! Only 20 spots due to venue size/rules - so sign up before itā€™s full. Product Management Insights, News & Trends

  • Freemium is over-rated: This is not so much ā€œnewsā€, but something I read that I want to share. Melissa Kwan, 3x bootstrapper shares in her latest podcast how everyone thinks "freemium" model is the end all be all for monetization or at least starting to monetize, but how that does not always work. I love a different viewpoint on a familiar topic! Check it out here.

  • The blockers for AI product adoption : As part of my roundtable at Lennyā€™s Summit with several heads of product, and senior product leaders, what emerged are some of the blockers around AI product adoption. The ā€œfear of losing my jobā€, ā€œfear of changeā€, and other emotions are top of mind for people whose jobs are being forever changed or removed as a result of AI. Organizations will require investments in organizational change management, up-skilling their existing employees on AI skills, and employees will also need to find ways to upskill themselves externally if their employer does not help!

Customer empathy will become a key tool for PMs to ensure product adoption. Iā€™m a big fan of every CEO or CPO or PM should do the customerā€™s job for a day, or at least ā€œshadowā€ the customer and spend a day in their environment. You can check out this Forbes article for the full list of obstacles to adopt AI.

Whoā€™s hiring in my network (HM Linkedin Posts!)

I know that looking for a job is hard! So here are specific links to hiring manager or recruiter posts from people in my network, that give you an insiderā€™s edge while applying..

Before the jobs list - Here are two tools I came across to help you automate your job search - Simplify, created by a Stanford drop-out and backed by YC (looking promising!), and another one to try out is JobWizard. Donā€™t forget to share with me if you end up liking either one šŸ˜… (Iā€™m not affiliated to any of them).

  • As you might have noticed - security is a growing space for PMs - and Yval Schory at Sift (AI-powered fraud detection) is hiring PMs at multiple levels, check out his Linkedin post.

  • Hinge Health is hiring for a Sr Product Manager role in SF, I met a product leader there recently, and can help you get a referral (email me why youā€™re a great fit šŸ˜).

  • Ribbon Communications is hiring for a Sr. Principal Product Manager in Canada, Check out this HMā€™s post.

  • Grow Therapy is hiring for a few remote Sr PM roles, I met the hiring manager recently and help you with an intro (if you can tell me why youā€™re a great fit šŸ˜ ).

  • Malbek is aiming to disrupt the CLM (contract lifecycle management) space, and hiring for a PM role. The recruiterā€™s post is here.

PM Career/Interview Tips of the Week

šŸ’„ We are in week 9 of the PM Level-Up Group Program - and our topic of the week is back to Product Strategy! (Since we finished our typical 8-weeks of topics and content, weā€™re now doing ā€˜rolling topicsā€™ and going back to our week 2 topic of ā€˜Product Strategyā€™, so the folks who joined mid-cohort donā€™t miss out on all the fun!)

Concepts you need to know for Product Strategy (PS) questions:
1. The 3 Cs - Customer, Company, Competitors.
2. The 5 Ps of Marketing - Product, Pricing, Placement, Promotion and People!
3. Monetization, if applicable, depending on Product Stage
4. Partnership Ecosystems
5. Industry trends
6. My own additions to this list - Ethical/Humane use of Products + Environmental Impact (not just carbon emissions, but overall impact!)

šŸ‘‰ļø Here is a video from Gibson Biddle (VP, Product@Netflix, CPO - Chegg) that Iā€™ve enjoyed over the years about Product Strategy, that you can be sure youā€™ll learn from, even if you are an experienced PM or Product Leader šŸ™ƒ

šŸ‘‰ļø Watch my Stanford shorts on this topic:

Whenever youā€™re ready, here are 2 ways I can helpā€¦
