So much is happening in the world of tech that we need to be aware of as Product Leaders! Here are some key updates from this week that might impact you:

📉 What’s Happening and how it impacts PMs?

• Tariffs on imports from China, Mexico, and Canada may increase costs for hardware, e-commerce, and manufacturing-based businesses.

• Impact: PMs may need to adjust pricing strategies, explore domestic suppliers, and assess profitability risks.

• Why this matters: It’s your opportunity to stand out in PM interviews by showing interviewers how you can incorporate macroeconomic factors in your product thinking, especially when it comes to product strategy.

💡 Tips for PMs to help you stand out:
- If job searching, focus on recession-resistant industries (e.g., healthcare tech, cybersecurity, AI).
- Inside companies, when you can, find opportunities to work on on cost optimization, retention strategies, and revenue-driven initiatives.
- In interviews, highlight your ability to drive efficiency, prioritize high-impact features, and deliver value with limited resources.

📈 Google DeepMind continues to hire & grow:
- Gemini 2.0: DeepMind has unveiled Gemini 2.0, its most advanced AI model designed for the agentic era, moving closer to the goal of “AGI” - Artificial General Intelligence.
- Project Astra: This research prototype explores the future capabilities of a universal AI assistant
- World Modeling AI Team: DeepMind is forming a new team dedicated to developing "world models" for simulating physical environments. This initiative aims to create real-time interactive environments for video games, movies, and training scenarios for robots and other AI systems.

PM Career/Interview Tips of the Week

A few weeks back, we had an AMA session with a client who has accomplished a near-magical feat of landing 4 Principal PM job offers!

Here are his tips for success - to help you in landing a PM Job offer in 2025:

1. Targeted job applications – Identify 15-20 ideal companies & create a job search strategy & pitch that brings together your unique set of experiences!

2. Behavioral interview prep – Have 8-10 key stories written, & practiced.

3. Build strong recruiter & hiring manager connections – Skip LinkedIn InMail, email hiring managers directly using tools like RocketReach.

4. Practice case study questions – Use frameworks & adjust per coach’s feedback.

5. Understand company priorities & competitors – Read earnings reports & business strategy of the company, and do competitor research to stand out!

6. Mock interviews are key – with peers + your coach to refine your answers.

7. Maintain a growth mindset – Focus on learning, persistence, and self-care through the process.
