How is your summer going?
I’ve gone through some minor health challenges the last month, and missed getting this newsletter out more regularly, but luckily starting to come out stronger, with better diet and health routines than I had before. It’s nuts how we take our health for granted - so now I’m being more intentional about those Zumba classes, and fresh smoothies at home 😅 💃

Product Management News & Industry Trends

So much is happening in the world of tech that we need to be aware of as Product Leaders! Here are some key updates from this week that might impact you:

1. Job Market Fluctuations & Regional Shifts
The global PM job market saw a 5.1% rise in June, but July is dropping slightly.

• Why it matters: These swings highlight ongoing volatility—PMs must stay agile and persistent.

• Coach Pri’s Take: Maintain a steady pipeline—keep interviewing and up-skilling - holding on to your job is a bad strategy now, focus on making sure you are building up your CORE PM skills, your INTERVIEW skills, and also your AI-ML skills. This is what will make sure you are still “employable” in the future!

2. Getting hands-on with AI - it’s a core PM competency
GenAI is transforming the PM role by enabling faster prototyping, smarter workflows, and better data-driven strategies. You need to not just be able to understand AI-ML concepts but also build experience applying them to real use-cases in practice! And, even if the JD does not state it, it’s an implied requirement 😅 

• Why it matters: Hiring now heavily favors PMs who can orchestrate human+AI collaboration and lead AI-powered initiatives.

• Coach Pri’s Take: Learn AI-based tools, integrate them into your daily workflows, and be ready to describe how your roadmap adapts in an AI-enhanced environment. 3. From Time to Energy: Rethinking Remote PM Leadership
Leaders are shifting from measuring hours to managing team energy and well-being, using analytics to spot burnout, disengagement, and stress in flexible/hybrid setups.

• Why it matters: As distributed teams become the norm, PMs need to monitor and support team energy, not just output.

• Coach Pri’s Take: Highlight in your resume and interviews how you foster team energy, reduce burnout, and build trust in hybrid/remote settings.

4. Google DeepMind’s Project Mariner: Web-Browsing AI Agent

DeepMind’s Project Mariner is a browsing agent integrated into Chrome and Gemini APIs. It interprets user intent, navigates pages, fills forms, and automates routine tasks—moving AI beyond static chatbots into dynamic web interaction.

• Why it matters: This is a shift toward agentic AI in consumer products—PMs must now design for AI that acts, not just responds.

• Coach Pri’s Take: In interviews, showcase how you design with user-in-the-loop control, manage autonomy vs. transparency, and handle ethical/product trade-offs in user-agent interfaces.

Who’s hiring (job postings from my network)

PM hiring remains strong with clients still getting inbound outreaches from recruiters or HMs - however that does NOT mean it is easy to get hired - since candidate supply is still HIGH in the job market! Tt still takes a LOT of interview practice, and clearly curating your target roles/companies in order to get a job offer you love, that aligns with your goals and values 😍

PM Career/Interview Tips of the Week

How do you prepare for AI Product Design or Product Sense Interviews?
A lot of PMs or even Product leaders think this is just about blurting out a lot of AI and ML concepts to prove that you are knowledgeable in this space. That’s not true, and it takes a whole lot more to stand out in these interviews!

My Pro tip to help you stand out: Showcase your core Product thinking skills, AND your ability to marry those with your AI-ML knowledge and skills…

🎯 Let’s walk through an example: “How would you use AI to improve a fitness app?”

🔥 Using my 6W1H Product Design or Sense framework
(NOTE: What’s below is just an outline, in the PM Level-Up program we dig into each step below and solve it in-depth, collaboratively in a Miro board, or Google doc!):

• Why – Users often drop off due to generic workout plans that don’t adapt to their goals or progress.

• Who – Beginner to intermediate fitness users who want guided, personalized workouts.

• What – They need motivation, progress tracking, and workouts that match their evolving fitness level.

• Which – Focus on AI-generated workout plans and check-in prompts to improve stickiness.

• How – Apply my PROUD™ framework to design the AI layer:

  • P (Prompt & Input): Users enter their fitness goal, schedule, and past activity.

  • R (Response Format): AI generates a personalized daily workout plan with explanations.

  • O (Optionality & Control): Users can edit, skip, or regenerate suggestions.

  • U (Understandability & Trust): Explain why the workout was selected, with links to user goals.

  • D (Data & Feedback Loop): Use completion rates, feedback, and in-app surveys to improve recommendations.

• When – MVP in 8–10 weeks with one user goal (e.g., “build strength”) and limited routines.

• How much – Success = increased day 7 and day 30 retention, and higher plan completion rates.
